Year round offlead dog walking areas in Poole / Dorset

We are very lucky to have an abundnce of beautiful Heathland to support wildife and provide us with lovely walks surrounding Poole. However from 1st March - 31st July dogs should remian on lead on the heathlands and nature reserves. This is to protect the nesting birds. However it does mean that dog walking offlead becomes much more limited.

If your dog enjoys offlead walks, I have come up with a list of places (mostly concetrating on being local to Poole area) where you can do so year round.
(Harbour Tails Dog Walking does not recommend walking your dog off lead unless recall is regularly practiced with success and the dog is friendly towards other people and animals).

For this list, I am focusing on dog friendly areas within approx 10 miles of Poole.

Lake Pier

Lake Pier is a sand and shingle beach in Hamworthy and is a designated dog beach year round.

Wareham Forest

Wareham Forest is dog friendly all years but SOME areas of the forest dogs should be on lead during nesting season (March - July). So you should look out for signage on your walks here.

Harbourside Park (Baiter and Whitecliff)

Harbourside Park is made up of Baiter and Whitecliff recreation grounds and is situated between Poole Park and Poole Harbour.

Coy Pond (Branksone) and the gardens cover around 9 acres of land. However please be wary as there are roads to be crossed through the gardens and dogs should be on lead if walking on the cycle paths.
